This feeling 

wells up in my chest

I feel it brimming 

to the top of me

until it’s teetering 

over the edge 

and I can see

you smiling 

to yourself 

and so I sit back wishing quietly 

that I could take

a bite of you 

hoping maybe I can taste the truth.
